Some great suggestions throughout. Love that you opened with the point about digital preservation as the application of resources to mitigate the most pressing risks for loss.
You’ve outlined some smart and very inexpensive ideas in the low resources section. The only thing I think I would add here is that it would be really great to get something in here about practices around fixity. Even if it’s just at the level of keeping track of and reconciling things based on file count and size that would still be a good place to be starting from.
Your suggestion that the historical society look into depositing it’s collections into the CTDA makes a lot of sense. In many cases, the best way forward for a small organization is to establish these kinds of partnerships with larger organizations that focus on similar missions.
