Introduction: Caroline Morales

Hi there! I am Caroline Morales, a first year MA in the Public History program. I originally hail from Wisconsin and graduated from Principia College in Illinois as double major in Educational Studies and History. After I graduated in 2017, I moved to DC to work at the National Museum of American History (NMAH) as a Public Programs Facilitator. I have held a variety of positions in museum education, classroom teaching, as well as within ~the corporate world~. Historical education is my real passion and I entered this program to gain expertise as an academic historian and grow my skills as an educator within the context of public history. Alongside this program, I am working with the Humanities Truck at AU and as a Program Assistant for Spark!Lab at NMAH.

Digital history has become even more central to the study and act of public history with the entrance of the pandemic. However, even when the public history world is not forced to close its physical doors every few months, digital history allows institutions a way towards greater access, diversity in engagement options, and an agile platform for innovation. I am really excited to learn more about how to bring these types of practices into my museum work and beyond.
